Luz completed her degree in Pharmacology and Translational Medical Science at Imperial College London, including a year spent in industry as a researcher for GSK, looking at novel epigenetic targets in the treatment of immuno-inflammatory disorders. She then gained a DPhil in Cardiovascular Science from the University of Oxford, investigating hypoxia mimetics as a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes.

Luz has worked in industry, academia, charities and non-profit organisations, and more recently shifted her focus to value-based healthcare, having spent the last few years working as director of Outcomes Research for the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM). At ICHOM, Luz led the team that coordinated expert working groups to develop patient-centred outcome sets for different disease areas. She has also supported organisations to make the first steps towards the implementation of value-based approaches to health and care delivery, and delivered training and dissemination sessions for those interested in value-based healthcare.

Luz is eager to help policymakers, commissioners and providers work together to understand the steps required to move towards a value-based framework.
